Increase Your Sales By Accepting Credit Cards

By Debbie Dragon

Its a given that running an online business means that you need to accept credit cards. If you dont then you are losing as much as 70% of your sales to competitors who do accept credit cards according to an article published by Forbes Magazine. But its not just online businesses that suffer lost sales by not accepting credit cards. That same 70% figure, and higher in some cases, is applicable for off-line businesses as well.

Most People Do Not Carry Much Cash

Thanks to direct payroll deposit and debit cards, 50% of Americans carry a few singles and may a five or ten and 40% carry around $5 or less including coins according to an opinion poll conducted by one company recently.

This means that even if you are selling low-priced items you will be chasing away as much as 90% of your potential customers if your product or service costs more than they are carrying with them at the moment and you dont accept credit and debit cards.

Even Starbucks, which has an average sales transaction amount of $4, does the bulk of their business with credit card and debit card transactions.

Statistics indicate that the average American carries at least four credit cards and nearly all Americans carry a debit card. Youre missing a lot of purchase opportunities if those cards arent welcome at your business.

Most Consumers Prefer Paying By Credit Card

Not only do consumers avoid the inconvenience of carry cash, which includes the threat of loss or theft, but they also enjoy the security of knowing that their bank is willing to back them up should they end up in a dispute with your business over the quality of your products or services.

Then There Are The Rewards Programs

A lot of credit card programs offer cash-back or other incentives for every dollar that a consumer charges to their card. People who are enrolled in rewards programs will go out of their way to pay by credit card and avoid using cash at all costs. If your business doesnt want to help them earn their rewards, theyll simply find another business that does.

Credit Cards Are More Convenient For Big-Ticket Purchases

Customers who are spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a product simply expect to be able to pay by credit card. This is especially true for those customers who cannot afford to pay for their purchase all at once and who are planning to pay the balance off over a period of time.

Some Customers Are Forced To Use Credit Cards

Employees who are making purchases on the behalf of their employers, or employees who travel on company business, are often issued company credit cards which they are expected to use for all purchases. Accounting for cash expenditures, and the subsequent process of reimbursing the employee for their out-of-pocket expenses, is a nightmare for businesses. If you dont accept credit cards, these employees are shopping elsewhere.

Youre Losing Out On B2B Purchases

Many companies that are making purchases of products or services for their own internal use or for resale prefer to pay with a credit card for accounting reasons. Not accepting credit cards means that you are losing out on the opportunity to serve repeat customers who are being forced to take their business elsewhere.

Hopefully youve found one or more good reasons to start accepting debit and credit cards at your business. And if the reason youre not accepting them is because you think you cant afford to, think again. The truth is: You cant afford not to!

Mandela discharged from hospital

Monday, September 2, 2013

Nelson Mandela has left hospital to return to his home in Johannesburg, in a critical condition, South African officials said on Sunday.

The 95-year-old anti-apartheid leader and former South African president has spent nearly three months in hospital for treatment of a recurring lung infection and has returned to his residence in Johannesburg where he will continue to recover.

A statement from the office of current South African president Jacob Zuma confirmed Mandela homecoming:

“His teams of doctors are convinced that he will receive the same level of intensive care at his Houghton home that he received in Pretoria.”

“His home has been reconfigured to allow him to receive intensive care there. The health care personal providing care at his home are the very same who provided care to him in hospital.”

Several ambulances and TV crews gathered outside Mandela’s home in the Houghton suburb of Johannesburg on Sunday, where well-wishers gathered to pray for his recovery.

Mandela’s last public appearance was at the 2010 football World Cup, held in South Africa.

Reorganization Of Debts With Freedom Debt Relief

By Sean A. Kelly

In this current financial atmosphere where jobs are hard to find and the mountain of debts seem to be growing uncontrollably, every once in a while you may hear about matters that become bigger than ourselves like burden of debts. The need for taking drastic step like filing for bankruptcy may be the only way out. Bankruptcy is just not all about liquidation of your assets which is comes under chapter 7. In contrast to it, there is Chapter 13 of bankruptcy where your assets won’t be liquidated to pay your debts rather it works on the same line as seeking debt consolidation and credit counseling but with the intervention of the court. To avail bankruptcy under chapter 13 you need to fulfill some conditions by law. Jones story will help you to better understand all about it. To alleviate the burden he filed for credit card bankruptcy, one of the options in the Freedom Debt Relief program.

Jones had a whopping $34000 credit card debt and a medical condition which was taking in a good proportion out of his income. He had been out of a job for more than 6 months and this was one of the major factors responsible for his deteriorating financial condition as he was living on plastic entirely during those jobless months. He did find a job later but the damage was too big to get hold of by then. He was recommended to file for chapter 13 bankruptcies by his consultants.

Personally Jones was not ready to file for bankruptcy due to the stigma that is attached to it. He had some common misconceptions about bankruptcy like losing everything he had and starting with a cardboard box, fears like everyone will know about his financial struggle and also that he will never be able to apply for credit card again. After seeking consultation he was able to deal with his fears.

Bankruptcy option like chapter 13 allows you to keep all your property and there is no liquidation of your assets, rather it is called a reorganization bankruptcy, your counseling agency which organizes your debts to be paid over a period of 3 to 5 years. Jones another concern of not being able to ever get a credit was addressed when his consultants told him it won’t be long before you start getting offers though it will be at a high rate to start with.

So what is bankruptcy under Chapter 13? When your consultant advises you to file for bankruptcy under Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code, the aim is to get the opportunity to repay some or all of the debts on better terms, i.e. lower or no interest, a stark contrast to bankruptcy under Chapter 7 where your debts and property are placed in the hands of the court and liquidated to pay your creditors, this type of bankruptcy is often referred to as liquidation bankruptcy.

So how does one qualify for chapter 13? You’ll have to prove to the court that you can afford to meet your payment obligations. Therefore, having a regular income is one of the major criteria to qualify but if your income is irregular or an income which is too low, the court might not allow you to file for Chapter 13. Again, the amount owed by you should not exceed $336,900. Before you can file for chapter 13 bankruptcies, you must receive credit counseling from an agency approved by the United States Trustee’s office.

The most important part of chapter 13 is the repayment plan. Your attorney will prepare new repayment plan with help from your credit consultants to best suit your situation. As per the law, the creditors are required to adhere to the repayment plan once it is approved by the court.

So if you are buried in debt and there are no better solutions to change your situation ask your credit consultants more about Chapter 13 bankruptcy, it is there for a reason!

Ways In Slimming Down The Healthy Way

By Doyle Christensen

Slimming down healthily necessitates commitment, discipline and a weight management plan. If you want to lose weight and keep away the fats forever, you will need to consume healthy meals, increase your water intake and work out regularly. When you do it the healthy way, you will have improved well-being and be able to sustain this state. When you go for a crash or fad diet or any other unhealthful weight loss program, you may see quick but temporary results.

To lose weight healthily, take in at least 8 tall glasses of water every day. Water is essential in slimming down because it helps the body in metabolizing food to energy. To burn fats and calories, the body must be hydrated. Water also assists the body in digesting food consumed. When you drink water frequently, you will feel full thus satisfying your hunger pangs and eating less.

Dieting properly is also important to lose weight. This involves eating 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of the usual 3 large meals. When you eat steadily during the day, your blood sugar levels are maintained as your metabolism rate quickens. Your meals must include lean protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Foods that have so much salt will make your body retain water and bloat thus you must avoid them.

The next thing to do when slimming down is to have a food journal and to jot down everything you eat, the time you ate and the feelings when eating. The goal is to know your eating habits and to determine if you undergo emotional eating and the triggering factors behind this.

You should also exercise regularly, 3 to 5 times per week, if you wish to slim down and maintain proper weight. Have a workout schedule incorporating thirty minutes of strength training and another thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercises. You can start with brisk walking which is an exercise with low impact if you are an inactive person. Slowly switch to more rigorous cardio workouts such as jogging, running or any other arduous exercise so as to heighten metabolic rate and then burn off calories.

Do strength training exercises not less than twice weekly so as to toughen your muscles. After a workout, muscles repair themselves and this can be done when you burn calories. Your goal must be to substitute fat with muscles for you to slim down.

You must set small weight goals every week in a given time frame instead of one big goal. This will help you achieve them easily and then motivate you every time you attain these goals. If you have overwhelming and unrealistic goals, you may fail to achieve them thus you would get frustrated and give up on your plan to lose weight. Stay away from attempting to slim down in a short duration. Remember that losing weight quickly produces fleeting and unhealthy results.

Burning fat in your body to slim down is possible and when slimming is done in a healthy way, you can maintain your ideal body weight always.

Malaysian government warns citizens about Uncyclopedia

This article mentions the Wikimedia Foundation, one of its projects, or people related to it. Wikinews is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Satire site Uncyclopedia, a parody of online encyclopedia Wikipedia, has been labeled by the Malaysian government as dangerous. The Internal Security Department of Malaysia issued the warning today, saying that the site has “messages and information insulting Malaysia”.

The warning notes the creation date of the website as being 5 January 2005, and hosted by Wikia, Inc., both of which are correct. However, it claims Wikia owns Wikipedia; Wikipedia is a charitable non-profit website owned by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, while Wikia is an independent, for-profit company.

The report evidently mentions that Uncyclopedia covers Malaysian “history, culture, the political leaders, the government, the national song and the name / history of the national flag,” none of which is “correct”. They accuse the website of helping to reinforce a bad international image of their country.

There are no reports of the site being blocked from access within the country, only this statement, which urges Malaysians not to circulate the content.

Uncyclopedia’s article on Malaysia begins:

Essentially the penis of Asia which is located to the north of their cousins who live on an even smaller island Singapore, Malaysia (also known as Bolehland) is a young nation of diverse cultures and races such as F1 Formula-1 and Nascar. The timezone of Malaysia is unique because it follows the system of +1/+2 PMT (Predetermined Meeting Time) which is 1 or 2 hours later than PMT. Most foreigners have difficulty adjusting to this new timezone as they tend to show up 1 or 2 hours earlier than the local counterparts. The nation is moving forward with a vision towards becoming a developed nation by the year 2020, 3030, 4040 or whatever catchy number.

…Another common state that Malaysians have is denial (no lah, where got?), which incidentally, is a river in Egypt.

The site has fired back with a parody article posted at the site under their UnNews section, titled Uncyclopedia Internal Security Department warns on Malaysia. The article suggests that the “Internal Security Department of the Uncyclomedia Foundation,” which is a facetious and fictitious parent organization of Uncyclopedia, identifies Malaysia “as a dangerous country… It warned its people not to use the country today.”

There are forty-seven individual language editions of Uncyclopedia, including Tolololpedia, which is written in Bahasa Melayu, the Malay language. This is in addition to fictional “language” editions which include Oscar Wilde, Newspeak, N00b, White Supremacist, and Re: PharmaccgRy.

Electric vehicles can be less green than classic fuel cars, Norwegian study finds

Sunday, October 7, 2012

A Norwegian University of Science and Technology study released Thursday found electric vehicles have a potential for higher eco-toxicity and greenhouse impact than conventional cars. The study includes an examination of the electric car’s life cycle as a whole rather than a study of the electric car’s environmental impact during the use phase.

The researchers conducted a comparison of the environmental impact of electric cars in view of different ratios of green-to-fuel electricity energy sources. In the case of mostly coal- or oil-based electricity supply, electric cars are disadvantageous compared to classic diesel cars with the greenhouse effect impact being up to two times larger.

The researchers found that in Europe, electric cars pose a “10% to 24% decrease in global warming potential (GWP) relative to conventional diesel or gasoline vehicles”.

The researchers suggest to improve eco-friendliness of electric vehicles by “reducing vehicle production supply chain impacts and promoting clean electricity sources in decision making regarding electricity infrastructure” and using the electric cars for a longer time, so that the use phase plays a more important role in the electric vehicle life cycle.

A Divorce Attorney In Silverdale Wa Can Be A Voice Of Reason On Your Behalf

byAlma Abell

A divorce is one of the most emotionally and psychologically stressful experiences that an individual, couple, or family can go through. The separation, changes, and uncertainty can often lead to feelings of resentment and anger which can serve no good purpose when trying to deal with potential hot-button issues like alimony, custody, and visitation. A cooler head needs to prevail and that is one of the reasons you rely on your divorce attorney in Silverdale WA area. He will use his experience and skills to be your voice and look out for the best interests of you and your family. The process begins with a free initial consultation during which your attorney will gather all of the necessary information and determine how best to proceed from there.

There are two ways of handling the dissolution of a marriage in the state of Washington; either by using the traditional litigation model or the collaborative law model. Which of these paths is selected is usually based on the information garnered by your attorney. The traditional model is often chosen when issues of personal safety or financial protection require action right away. It can sometimes involve temporary court orders dealing with issues like child support and property allocation. On occasion it also entails restraining orders. If the collaborative law model is used, there will be specially-trained attorneys who will work together, representing both individuals involved, to find amicable resolutions through good-faith negotiations.

Many individuals believe that once the divorce has been granted by the court they will have no more use for their attorneys, but that is far from the case. First of all, divorce settlements are never written in stone, since it is the nature of life to bring changes. If one of the parties loses their job or has to relocate, modifications have to be made to the original agreement and that will require your Divorce Attorney in Silverdale WA. There are also, very often, questions that arise following a divorce regarding financial issues like taxes and tax liabilities which your attorney can assist you with.

Attorneys at Lindsay Olsen PLLC understand that divorces aren’t just about property and settlements; they’re about people and families and they take their responsibilities very seriously. They will work diligently and aggressively to reach an amicable decision on your behalf.

RU486 Abortion pill hearings begin in Australia

Friday, February 3, 2006

An Australian Senate inquiry into the abortion pill “RU486” has started public hearings in Melbourne. A controversial conscience vote on the issue to overturn laws which prohibit Australian women’s access to the drug, will be held in Federal parliament on February 9.

The Senate committee is considering a bill to remove ministerial control of the abortifacient drug Mifepristone – or RU486. Health Minister Tony Abbott says the issue of whether to allow women access to the drug “is one of principle.” Abbott, who is against abortion, insists he is the right person to control the drug’s use in Australia.

Besides its use internationally as an “abortion pill”, there may also be a small chance that it may help treat various other medical disorders including prostate cancer, breast cancer, and inoperable brain tumours amongst other conditions. Mifepristone is effectively banned in Australia, with Minister Abbott controlling whether it is made available.

The bill, sponsored by a group of female senators and MPs, would hand Mr Abbott’s powers over to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) – the body that controls all other pharmaceutical drugs in Australia. The bill seeks to have the TGA determine the drug’s availability and not the Health Minister.

Democrats Leader Lyn Allison, said she was “cautiously confident” the parliament will overturn the current arrangements when the conscience vote takes place. “Those who are in favour of the bill are saying this is a choice that ought to be available to women and that on the basis of the studies that have been done overseas it is at least as safe as surgical termination,” Senator Allison said.

Reproductive Choice Australia (RCA)say that medicine is placed at the whim of politics, saying that over 80% of Australians are pro-choice. A national survey found 87% of women aged 18 to 49 support a woman’s right to choose.

RU486 is available in much of western Europe and North America, but was effectively banned in Australia under laws initiated by now-retired pro-life senator Brian Harradine.

Christine Read, medical director of family planning group FPA Health, said Misoprostol, also known as Cytotec, is across the world to invoke contractions to expel the fetus after a woman had taken RU486. “It is used extensively in obstetrics and gynaecology for termination of pregnancy and to induce labour, so it’s used in the medical management of miscarriage,” Dr Read said.

Dr Sharman Stone, said yesterday the issue was not about Misoprostol, but rather that “the TGA should make the decision about any drugs – that is its job. Any other conversations about other drugs are simply irrelevant to this argument,” Dr Stone said.

Family First senator Steve Fielding says lifting a ban on RU486 would pave the way for do-it-yourself home abortions. “RU486 is different to other drugs in that it is an abortion drug which could see do-it-yourself home abortions,” he said in a statement. “The question is, should policy be made by bureaucrats or our elected leaders?

Senator Fielding claims Australians are worried about the high number of abortions in Australia, as reflected in submissions received by the Senate committee.

On Monday the committee will move to Sydney for a final day of hearings.
